List Building: How To Make Your 1st $100

list building, how to make 100 bucks onlineI don’t know what’s wrong with me lately, but I am obsessively focusing on list building. I swear it’s keeping me up at night thinking of new tips and tricks…or even how I can put my own spin on an old tip. *hint hint hint* Here comes my twist!

Make Your First $100 Bucks

Listen, lots of people sell you pipe dreams about making money online. I can honestly say that it’s pretty easy to make money online, but it’s not so easy to make a living online. Big difference there.

However, the focus of this post is sort of two-fold. I want to show you a cool tip to build your list and then make your first hundred bucks online.  Why do I focus on the first $100? Because if you can get your first 100 subscribers and can make your first $100, then you can replicate that success to 200, 300…etc…

So let’s make that amount your initial goal. Not to say you shouldn’t aim high, but let’s create a plan and then make it work first. Then you become the next Warren Buffet! 🙂

List Building Technique

Okay, we have established you need to focus on list building. One of the most popular ways of gaining subscribers is to offer something of value for free. Specifically, a free report.

Creating your own free report would be the best way to go in my opinion. Huge benefits come from that, including placing your own blog links in the report. When you give your subscribers the rights to give your report away, you extend your reach to the masses.

So how do you find great content for your free report? Conduct an email interview. A very simple and easy way to get the information you desire AND monetize baby.

What Is An Email Interview?

Here’s how it works. You create a list of a half dozen questions or so around one central theme. For example, let’s say we wanted to create a free report on “How to write sales letters that make you money!”

Now, you  find as many people in that niche who sell stuff on how to write sales letters. Then you send them all the same basic list of questions. It might look like this:

1. Explain how you got your first success with writing a winning sales letter

2. What is the biggest mistake people make when writing sales letters?

3. What is the most critical factor for creating a winning sales letter?

4. What is the biggest emerging trend you see for using sales letters in online marketing?

5. What is your formula for writing headlines for your sales letters?

6. Why is mastering writing sales letters so important to Internet marketing?

There you go. You simply email each of the people you found who are experts in writing sales letters and you ask them to write a few paragraphs for each answer, and send it back to you when they’re done.

NOTE: I would email several people as not all of them will respond. So, to make sure you have enough info for your report, email more than less. Also, give them a deadline. Most people will not realize what YOUR time frame is and may think, “oh I will get to it later.”

Also, let them know you will allow them to put in a one paragraph “call to action” at the end of the answers where they can promote their latest product as long as you can use your affiliate link for the promotion.

Lookie loo there…you just killed  two birds with one stone. You’ve created a free report that allows you to get emails… and the report is also MONETIZED so you can make that first hundred bucks.

The Bottom Line

Going back to extending your reach, once you give permission to your list to use your report, more and more people are now exposed to your links. The key here is to give permission as long as all links stay intact. So, they can not remove your links. (another reason I am a fan of creating your own report.)

You need to ensure the report you create is an exceptional value. A one page report can sometimes be more valuable than a whole e-book depending on the content. If you are offering the wisdom of successful people, then to me that is value.

Your only other task here is to create a killer headline/title for that free report to get the masses interested. You don’t want to do all the work only to have no one take a second look.  Find those people who are successful at making money in your niche and capitalize on their experience to propel you to the next level.

Once you start making money online, you can do the happy dance all over your living room…or in the streets if you so desire! (just be sure to video tape it so you can monetize that dance!)
