Well, I’m not endorsing Google+ (um, maybe a bit…) but I am convinced that Google+ might be a legitimate Facebook killer.
While I was browsing my Google+ stream (oh – by the way, here’s my Google+ profile) I stumbled on a share by David Nachum, Google Associate Product Manager.
It’s an interesting video created by Epipheo Studios about Google+ 101. The video contains fun and cool animation explaining what Google+ is… and how it can be better than Facebook.
To sum the video up, here’s why Google+ is a Facebook killer: Other than the fact that Google+ can “categorize” your contacts (a.k.a. Circles,) Google+ will have all Google apps purged into it one by one – so just like the catchphrase in the video: “you don’t have to choose it (Google+)… sooner or later you’ll end up using it”
Check out this cool video:
So – what’s your opinion? Is Google+ really better than Facebook?
A good video on why Google+ is better. I do think it has it’s strong points, such as being able to monitor who sees your news feeds by creating groups and their photo sharing service, however I’m not sure if I agree that Google+ is a Facebook killer. They’re going to need to up their game massively to get anywhere near Facebook – they have managed to get more middle aged users within the last year to two years and I think it may also take a while before they would consider the switch. Not only them but most users are now comfortable with Facebook and are happy with it. We wrote an article recently on Google+ and that their managers aren’t even using it, showing that it can’t really be that good?http://www.lucidica.com/blog/cto/management-of-google-dont-seem-to-love-google/ it’s quite interesting. I know it could change in the future, as you never know what will happen, but I can’t personally see them taking over Facebook.
Emily,
Indeed Google+ is not a Facebook killer, but it budges Facebook, somehow 🙂
